Launch Your Own Live Countdown: New Feature on Exact Time Now
"Exact Time Now now includes a live countdown creator. Name your event, pick a date, time, and time zone, choose a display style, and share a link that always shows the precise remaining time."
Create a Countdown: The New Way to Track Big Moments
Exact Time Now now includes a Create a Countdown feature that lets you build a live ticking clock to any future (or past) event and share it with anyone. It sits alongside the existing world clock, compare time, and meeting planner tools so you can keep all of your time-sensitive plans in one place.
How the Countdown Creator Works
At the top of the new page you'll see a simple form asking for three core details:
- Event name – A clear title like "New Year 2027", "Product Launch", or "Wedding Day".
- Target date and time – Enter the exact day and local time you want the countdown to reach.
- Time zone – Choose from a full list of IANA zones, with your own (for example, Europe/London) suggested automatically.
Once those fields are filled, you can pick a display style—Full, Card, or Minimal—before clicking Create & Share Countdown. The site then generates a dedicated countdown page with a URL you can copy and send to your team, customers, or friends.
If you're planning across time zones, you can still open the main clock view on Exact Time Now in another tab to verify local times before locking in the final target.
See Your Countdown in Action
After creation, the countdown page shows a bold, real-time display of the remaining days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the event. For example, a "New Year 2027" countdown will tick down precisely to midnight on January 1st in the time zone you selected.
Below the timer, a Copy Link to Share button makes it easy to post the countdown anywhere: Slack channels, newsletters, event pages, or social media. Everyone who opens the link sees the same synchronized countdown, updated in real time without needing to refresh.
Designed for Global Events
Because Exact Time Now is already built around accurate world time, the countdown feature respects:
- Local time zones – The event is anchored to the zone you chose, whether that's Europe/London, America/New_York, or Asia/Tokyo.
- Daylight saving changes – If DST starts or ends before your event, the countdown adjusts automatically so it still hits the correct local moment.
- Cross-border coordination – Viewers in different countries see the remaining time from their own perspective, while the event itself stays fixed to its chosen zone.
For anything from global product launches and webinars to holidays or sports finals, you can combine the countdown with the existing Compare Time and Meeting Planner tools on Exact Time Now to coordinate announcements and follow-up meetings around the same key moment.
Popular Ready-Made Countdowns
On the main Countdown Timer page, you'll also see a curated strip of featured events—such as New Year, Christmas, major sports tournaments, and astronomical events—already set up as live countdowns. These examples show what a finished countdown looks like and give visitors quick, shareable timers without filling in the form themselves.
Whether you're tracking the days until a personal milestone or synchronizing a global audience around a launch date, the new countdown feature turns Exact Time Now into a place where you don't just see the current time—you watch the future approach, second by second.
