📜 Historia y Orígenes
Habitada por los maoríes desde al menos el siglo XIII, que llamaron al istmo Tāmaki Makaurau ('lugar deseado por muchos'). Los europeos llegaron con los misioneros a partir de la década de 1820. El gobernador William Hobson fundó la ciudad colonial en 1840, año de la firma del Tratado de Waitangi. Fue la primera capital de Nueva Zelanda hasta 1865, cuando el gobierno se trasladó a Wellington.
